Nachos ( Spanish , [ natʃos ]) are in their simplest form tortilla chips that with melted cheese poured over or baked and served with various sauces, sour cream , guacamole , etc. common and ground beef, chicken. Nachos are popular in the US , but are now also popular in Europe .

history

The first written mention of nachos and their history can be found in the cookbook A Taste of Texas , published in 1949 by Jane Trahey. They were invented in 1943 in the Mexican border town of Piedras Negras by Ignacio Anaya (Mexican nickname for Ignacio is Nacho ), who was then a waiter in the local Victory Club. According to tradition, when a group of Americans from nearby Fort Duncan Air Base came to the club to eat, the cook could not be found. So Anaya improvised in the kitchen with existing food and served cheese- baked tostadas (fried tortillas) with jalapeño strips. That was the original version of the court.

The club owner later put the new dish on the menu and named it Nacho's Especiales . Nachos is not a dish from traditional Mexican cuisine, but is generally counted as part of modern Tex-Mex cuisine . It has been offered in Mexican restaurants in the United States since the 1960s.
