World Bodypainting Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World Bodypainting Association (abbreviated to WBA) is the association of bodypainers (English body painters ). It represents artists externally, organizes workshops and connects artists and models. Part of the WBA is the organizational participation in the World Bodypainting Festival, which was held from 1998 to 2010 in Seeboden am Millstätter See and from 2011 to 2016 in Pörtschach am Wörthersee . The WBF has been held in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee since 2017 .

history

The association was founded on October 12, 2001 in Austria by Alex Barendregt as the European Bodypainter Association EBPA (European Body Painting Association) . Due to the increased participation of international artists, ebpa was renamed the World Bodypainting Association in 2004. The association was created due to the annual World Bodypainting Festival, but focuses on networking artists and those interested in bodypainting.

The aim of the WBA is to establish body painting as an art form. In recent years this has also been achieved and the number of activities and companies that deal with it is constantly growing. Joint activities at national and international level are supported.

The World Body Painting Association reported in 2010 500 members from many European countries and from overseas. It represents the interests of artists who have made body painting their profession or who practice it as a hobby.

In addition to the artists, photographers, models and videographers are also active or passive members of the association.
