Gate tower (Vellberg)
The gate tower in Vellberg is a historical secular building.
description
The area of the former outer bailey was reached via a stone bridge that was built in the 18th century. The visitor then passed through the pointed arched gate of the gate tower . Its foundation walls are in the bottom of the city moat. The building is built on a rectangular floor plan and has a mansard roof, on which is a bell tower. The year 1489 (the construction date) is located in a round arched gate on the second floor. Johann Friedrich Reik recorded the gate tower on a pencil drawing after the fire on September 26, 1902. The view of the burned-out city gate tower was taken on September 28, 1902.
