Toyota Motor East Japan, Inc. is a Toyota- owned manufacturing company based in Ōhira . It was created in July 2012 from the companies Kanto Auto Works , Central Motor and Toyota Motor Tohoku Corporation.

Toyota Motor East Japan headquarters

The Kanto Auto Works were in April 1946 as Kanto Electric Motor Works, Ltd. was founded. In May 1950 the company was renamed Kanto Auto Works, Ltd. renamed. It was not until January 2012 that KAW became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota.

Central Motor Co., Ltd. was founded in September 1950. By April 2007, 3 million vehicles had been produced in various plants. In July 2008, Central Motor became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation.

The parts manufacturer Toyota Motor Tohoku Corporation was only founded in July 1997.
