hieroglyph

The hieroglyph Schut for shadows of the ancient Egyptians was supposedly modeled after the tear streak of the big cats - probably because a shadow follows a figure like a tear trail of a tear. According to a creation myth, man emerged from a tear. So it is not surprising that Schut is one of six parts that, according to ancient Egyptian beliefs, make up man (ka, ba, khat, ren, schut, ach).
