Trăiască Regele ( German Long Live the King ) was the national anthem of the Kingdom of Romania from 1881 to 1947 .
history
In 1862 the Marș triumfal ( German triumphal march ) won by Eduard Hübsch an organized competition for a national anthem. This was played in the Principality of Romania under the leadership of Alexandru Ioan Cuza and later Charles I as music without text. When Romania became a kingdom in 1881, Vasile Alecsandri wrote the text of the royal hymn Trăiască Regele to the already familiar melody. The hymn was also called Imnul Regal ( German Royal Hymn ).
After the end of the monarchy, Zdrobite cătușe became the national anthem.
