Tractor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tractor or The Way We Live is an English progressive rock band .

history

The band was formed in the late 1960s by Jim Milne and Steve Clayton from Rochdale . Small appearances in the surrounding area followed. In a bedroom they recorded a demo tape on two cassette recorders, which they sent to John Peel . From these recordings, the LP "A candle for Judith" was created in 1971 under the band name "The Way We Live" on the Dandelion label.

Tractor 's music was used as early as 1970 in David Lynch's 35-minute short film "The Grandmother", which was made before his first feature film.

1972 John Peel changed the band name to Tractor and, also to Dandelion, the LP of the same name was released. However, neither record was a great success. So the duo split a little later.

At the beginning of the 80s, Milne and Clayton made a comeback again under the name Tractor. Now no longer as a duo, but with the support of Dave Addison (bass), Dave Goldberg (keyboards) and Chris Hewitt .

In 1990 a new CD "Worst Enemies" was produced. This contained a collection of unknown pieces published under small indie labels as well as previously unreleased material. In October 2006, Tractor released another CD: "John Peel Bought Us Studio Gear And a PA"
