history
The first ski jumping hill in today's Nizhny Novgorod was built in 1955. It was a K 30. In 1958 a new ski jumping hill complex was opened on the Volga. In 1973 a large hill was built. Then the large hill had to be closed for safety reasons and the inrun tower was demolished. Then the K 80 and K 55 were covered with new mats - the K 55 for the first time. To modernize the ski jumping hills there was an architecture competition in 2008/2009, in which the Malojer company from Innsbruck prevailed against the WilkinsonEyre.Architects company. After two years of project stoppage due to the financial crisis, the new building was finally decided in July 2011. In addition to the new plastic covered ski jumps K 125, K 95, K 60 and K 30, a 5 km cross-country ski run for the combiners, a water park, a ski area and hotels are also being built. The project will cost 2.4 billion rubles (37 million euros). A stadium with 15,000 seats will be built around the large hill, the normal hill and the K 60.
