Translated Texts for Historians
Translated Texts for Historians (TTH) is a series of English translations of late ancient and early medieval texts published by Liverpool University Press .
The selected texts date from between 300 and 800 AD and include Latin, Greek, Syrian, Coptic, and Armenian texts. Often less well-known but interesting works for research are taken into account, for which often no or no new translation has existed. Each volume offers an introduction prepared by specialists and a (sometimes very detailed) commented translation based on current research. The series includes over 70 works (as of June 2020). She has an excellent reputation in research and most of the reviews have been very positive.
The current main editors are Mary Whitby (Oxford), Gillian Clark (Bristol) and Mark Humphries (Swansea). The advisory committee includes other recognized experts, including Sebastian P. Brock (syrologist), Averil Cameron (ancient and Byzantine history), Peter J. Heather (late ancient and early medieval history), Robert G. Hoyland (Islamic history), John Matthews ( ancient history), Michael Whitby (late ancient and Byzantine history), and Ian N. Wood (medieval history).
