Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona

Transporte Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) is the main public transport operator in Barcelona . It was created in 2004 through the merger of the two previously separate companies, Ferrocarril Metropolità de Barcelona and Transporte de Barcelona . It operates most of the metro and bus routes in the Barcelona metropolitan area.

The underground network consists of 12 lines with a total of 124 kilometers and 163 stations. Around 450 million passengers are carried every year. TMB operates eight of these lines (L1 to L5 and L9 to L11).

108 lines with a total distance of 857 kilometers are operated in the bus network. For this purpose, 1,060 buses are used, which are stationed in four depots (status: end of 2016).

TMB employs 7,744 people, of which 3,567 are in the subway and 4,179 in the buses (as of the end of 2016).
