Treptower Gate
The Treptower Tor in Neubrandenburg was built in the middle of the 14th century in the style of North German brick Gothic . At 31.8 meters, the Treptower is the highest of the four Neubrandenburg city gates . The complex also includes a front gate built in the 15th century, a half-timbered house with apartments built in the 18th century and the telegraph office set up in 1856.
The regional museum Neubrandenburg has been located in the main gate since 1872 ; Today it shows a permanent exhibition on the prehistory and early history of the region.
The name "Treptower Tor" refers to the course of the old country road to Treptow (today Altentreptow ) that begins here .
On December 15, 1964 and April 14, 1967, two stamps each with the image of the Treptower Gate were issued as part of the stamp series German Buildings from Twelve Centuries I and II of the Deutsche Bundespost and Deutsche Bundespost Berlin .
