Tricolon in membris crescentibus

A tricolon in membris crescentibus (Greek colon: "limb") or a figure of three in ascending limbs is a rhetorical stylistic device. It is related to the tricolon , but is also characterized by an increase in content ( climax ).

Cicero often used this stylistic device in his political speeches to clarify and underline the importance of a particular matter.

German examples: "I respect, love, adore you.", "She is a handsome, beautiful, no adorable girl."
