The Trillium Report (formerly Trillium Diagnostik ) was founded in 2003 as a medical journal dealing with innovation management in medicine . This made it the first medical journal in German-speaking countries to use Wiki technology for collaborative writing when it was introduced in 2005.

Technology and benefits

The magazine uses a content management system . The underlying program Triki (= Trillium Wiki) was created in PHP and JavaScript and uses MySQL as the database. Only invited authors are granted access and are managed by an editorial team. An automatic messaging system ensures that every change is checked by a co-author. This concept prevents vandalism and stimulates the authors to continuously edit the texts.

Scientific aspects

The Triki notification system uses the algorithm of the so-called floating couples : When a chapter is changed, the penultimate author is always notified, provided that he is not identical to the last author. A link takes the notified author to the last changed position in the article. This principle is intended to ensure that every change is reviewed by a co-author. Depending on the access frequency, the text may have been changed several times in the period between notification and the next access, so that different "pairs" of authors and co-authors are formed.
