Tschochto
The Tschochto ( Russian чохто or " Tschochto " in the Caucasian languages ) is a traditional headgear for women in the mountainous regions of the North Caucasus , more precisely in Dagestan .
In every mountain village - called Aul - the exact type of Tschochto differed. The chochto was often ornately decorated and was worn on the road as well as when working in the fields.
Since the Soviet era from 1920, the wearing of the chochto was no longer tolerated by the Soviet authorities, but the tradition probably persisted in some halls until the second half of the 20th century.
