Tsukahara

Tsukahara is an element in gymnastics .

Basically it's a sideways flip with a quarter turn and a back somersault tucked. This form has been expanded significantly over the years and is now also jumped stretched with double to triple screw. Another form of tsukahara is a backward double somersault with an integrated full length axis rotation, which is performed on almost all equipment (floor, rings, parallel bars, horizontal bar, trampoline, bars, uneven bars). This form is also used today in a wide variety of variants, e.g. B. exercised with longitudinal axis rotations or extended posture.

The first "triple tsukahara" stretched, that is a double back flip with three integrated longitudinal axis rotations, was shown in 1991 by Sergei Fedorchenko (KAZ).

The exercise was first performed by the Japanese master Mitsuo Tsukahara at the 1970 World Cup and was then named after him. He became world champion in horse jumping. His son Naoya Tsukahara won the silver medal in the men's all-round final behind Nikolai Krjukow (RUS) at the 1999 World Championships in Tianjin (China ).
