history

Since the first start of the Tuareg Rally in 1998, at that time still designed as an enduro event, the event has had an average of around 200 participants from different nations. In 2019, for example, 250 participants from 25 nations will start. Until 2018, the rally took place alternately between Tunisia and Morocco, in 2019 for the first time in Algeria. Due to various demonstrations in Algeria, the rally was to be postponed on the instructions of the Algerian Ministry of the Interior. However, shortly before the start of the rally, it was possible to agree on the actually planned date for the implementation. The competition is driven in 4 vehicle classes: cars, trucks, motorcycles and quads/ Side-by-side vehicles. The organizer of the Tuareg rally is the German Rainer Autenrieth. The motorsport associations in the respective host countries are co-organizers.
