Ma Wan Island (Hong Kong)

Ma Wan Tung Wan Tsai North , or (in Mandarin) the Dongwanzaibei site, is a Neolithic to Early Bronze Age archaeological site on Ma Wan Island in the Tsuen Wan District of the New Territories of Hong Kong (Xianggang). It is located in Ma Wan Village, Ma Wan Township.

The site is dated to 3700 BC. Until 500 BC Dated. This is one for the Pearl River - Delta characteristic sandbar -Stätte. It has an area of ​​1,500 square meters. Twenty graves were unearthed, stone tools, ceramics, bone and clam shell utensils were discovered, as well as the remains of fifteen people, including seven well-preserved skeletons.

The site was investigated in 1997 by the Archaeological Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Hong Kong Office for Cultural Goods and Sites and was among the top ten archaeological discoveries of the year in China .

The finds provide important information for understanding Hong Kong's prehistoric culture .
