Tunnel finisher

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The tunnel finisher is a device for removing creases from items of clothing , which is used in the textile industry primarily for processing after long transports (e.g. from the country of manufacture) or after dry cleaning .

Machine description

The clothes are hung on hangers on a conveyor belt and then automatically transported through a system of several chambers in which they are treated with steam and hot air. First it reaches a steam area in the tunnel finisher, where steam is sprayed through nozzles onto the garments. The steam makes the fiber malleable. Then warm air is blown onto the garments from above; the textiles are smoothed by gravity and the strong air flow. Before they finally leave the tunnel, the clothes are dried with cooler air.

Depending on the length of the tunnel, up to 3000 parts per hour can be processed in this way.
