Turbine tapping

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A turbine tap is the extraction of part of the working fluid from a turbine stage , the pressure of which is above the outlet pressure. It is used to extract heat, the desired temperature of which determines the location of the tap. In the case of steam turbines in power plants , several withdrawals from different pressure levels are the rule. The feed water is preheated with the extracted steam (see steam power plant ). The measure serves to improve the efficiency . In addition, larger taps can also be used to extract process heat in industrial systems or heat for heating buildings (see district heating , thermal power station ). For each extraction, there must be at least one extraction nozzle on the turbine housing.
