The Turkish Technic ( Türk Hava Yolları Teknik Anonim Şirketi ) is a provider of MRO services . The Istanbul- based company is wholly owned by Turkish Airlines .
history
Turkish Airlines was founded in 1933 as Devlet Hava Yolları. The first technicians were hired, but were part of the then small airline. In 1957, the first covered hangar was put into operation at Yeşilköy Airport (now Istanbul Ataturk). This enabled maintenance to be carried out more efficiently because the technicians now had a more pleasant workplace and the hall was equipped with new equipment. The management of Turkish Airlines soon noticed the potential of servicing aircraft operated by airlines from neighboring countries. Two years later, a collaboration with Lockheed International was agreed. From now on, the aircraft of the Turkish Air Force and the aircraft of the Turkish government began to be serviced. In 1963 the hangar at Ataturk Airport was converted so that it could also accommodate turboprop aircraft . Over time, the hangars were expanded and the Turkish Technic received several awards. In 1999, Turkish Airlines began to set up Turkish Technic as its own company. A second hangar was built in Istanbul Ataturk. In order to be able to increase the quality standards, the training of the employees was extended and the content revised. The nine maintenance halls, which are spread over several airports and Turkey, have been converted and expanded.
In March 2006, the Turkish Technic was finally founded as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Turkish Airlines.
In 2014 the HABOM hangar at Sabiha Gökçen Airport was opened. As a result, Turkish Technic now has three hangars in Istanbul and six more at other Turkish airports.
