Turmoil is a simulation game by the Dutch game studio Gamious , which was released on June 2, 2016. It's available on Steam and the App Store .
Gameplay
Turmoil is inspired by the North American oil rush in the 19th century. The player must become a successful oil entrepreneur. While the player makes money by digging and selling oil, the city is growing at the same time, which allows the player to buy improvements such as fast horses or thicker pipes. The campaign mode allows the player to bid for land in auctions and dig for oil with the help of dowsers , moles or scanners, with the aim of getting as much as possible in one year. The player competes with three rival AI s in each level.
development
Turmoil was in a prototype phase for a year before it was available in Steam Early Access in June 2015 . After a year in Early Access, Turmoil was released on Steam in June 2016 . It was published in the App Store for the iPad in February 2017 . A standalone DLC called "Turmoil - The Heat Is On" was released on March 22, 2018.
reception
The game was praised for being simple, but it repeats itself after a while. It has also been referred to as "the epitome of simplicity" and "an addicting and nostalgic management strategy".
