Tuula Haatainen (born February 11, 1960 in Tuusniemi ) is a Finnish politician ( SDP ) and member of the Finnish Parliament .

Career

From 2003 to 2005 she was Minister of Education under Matti Vanhanen and from 2005 to 2007 Minister of Health and Social Affairs.

In 2007 Haatainen left the Finnish parliament and became deputy mayor of Helsinki .

In the 2015 general election , she received 6,662 votes and moved back into parliament.

In September 2017, Haatainen won a membership survey of her party and thus became the presidential candidate of the Social Democrats for the 2018 presidential election , in which she finished sixth with 3.2% of the vote.

From February 2018 to April 2019 Haatainen was second and from June to December 2019 first Vice-President of the Finnish Parliament, and since 10 December 2019 she has been Minister of Labor in the Marin cabinet .
