Tuxer Fernerhaus
The Tuxer Fernerhaus is an intermediate station of the glacier railways on the Hintertux glacier . The Tuxer Fernerhaus is located at 2660 m above sea level. A. and is the central point of the glacier ski area in Hintertux.
history
The house was opened in 1969 as a restaurant with 200 seats. The construction was remarkable because at the time there was no road to the construction site on the edge of the glacier. All building materials had to be transported with the single chair lift built in 1968. In the same year, the glacier lifts achieved a technical sensation: for the first time in Tyrol, tow lifts were built on glacier ice. These are the Olpererlift which up to the glacier floor in the Tux Fernerhaus 3050 m leads and the Frozen Wall lift, which from the glacier ground on 3250 m led what today is the highest point of the glacier ski area. In 2013 the Tuxer Fernerhaus was expanded to 950 indoor and 950 outdoor seats after several earlier modernizations.
Cableways
The Fernerhaus can be reached today via the Gletscherbus 2 cable car and the 4-seater cable car from Fernerhaus. The 10-seater Gefrorene Wand gondola lift begins at the Fernerhaus and goes up to 3,033 m . A few meters from the Tuxer Fernerhaus, the Gletscherbus 3 also has its valley station; the Funitel overcomes 636 meters of altitude while traveling to the Gefrorene Wand station at 3250 m .
Ski connection
Runway 3, which is the return runway from the Kaserer area, ends at the Fernerhaus; the Tuxerfernerhang is also designated by 3, the runway is moderately difficult. Piste 2 starts from Tuxer Fernerhaus and leads to the Sommerberg chairlift and thus to the Sommerbergalm or to the Lärmstange double chairlift. At the combined mountain station Gletscherbus 2 and 4er Fernerhaus there is a separate exit in winter for people who want to ski straight back downhill without detour. The Tuxerfernerhang can be skied and groomed all year round.
gastronomy
The Tuxer Fernerhaus is a year-round self-service restaurant. The Wirtshaus am Tuxer Ferner is a full-service restaurant open from June to the beginning of May in the Tuxer Fernerhaus.
On the Hintertux Glacier, it is possible to have breakfast in a cabin on the 10-seater Gefrorene Wand gondola lift. The gondola breakfast takes place between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
