from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ušḫuni ( Hurrian : "silver") is in the Hurrian - Hittite mythology an enemy of the gods and the son of the grain god Kumarbi .

Ušḫuni is the son of Kumarbi and a human woman. First he threatens the orphans in his village, who draw his attention to the fact that he is a half-orphan. Then he threatens his mother, who then confesses to him that Kumarbi is his father, Teššub his brother and Ištar / Šawoška his sister. So Ušḫuni sets out to look for his father, whom he does not meet. Later he beats the gods with a whip and manages to become king of the gods himself. He tears the sun god Simige and the moon god Kušuḫ from heaven, both of whom swear allegiance to him. Eventually Ištar / Šawoška Ušḫuni will probably be able to be defeated.
