Mashhad Urban Railway , also Mashhad Metro , is the metro system of Mashhad , the second largest city in Iran with 3 million inhabitants .

Lines

line 1

Line 1, which began in 1999 and was completed in 2011, connects Shahid Hasheminejad Airport, located in the southeast of the city, with the Vakilabad district in northwest Mashhad over a length of 24.5 km.

Line 2

The first section of Line 2 went into operation on February 20, 2017. It was 8 km long and initially had six stops, another station was not yet completed at this time.

An extension of 2 km to the Shariati station made it possible to change to line 1.

Future expansion

A total of four lines are planned. Between lines 1 and 2 or 3, you can cross over at two different stations.

Shohada station will be the central transfer hub for lines 2, 3 and 4.

Line 3

A first, 11.5 km long section between Ferdowsi Bulevard and Saba Bulevard was already under construction in 2017. Later a total length of 17 km is to be achieved.

Line 4

The line will run from Khaje Rabi Street to Shahrak-e-Shahid Rajayi and will be 17.5 km long with 15 stations.

The location of the 15 stations was already determined in 2015.
