WMS , WFS , GML and other formats such as Shapefile or the connection to PostGis databases. The standard Styled Layer Descriptor (SLD) is supported for the representation of vector-based features .

The main focus of the application is the visualization of data from different sources and working with the objects shown. Functions such as: B. the intersection or merging of objects as well as the generation of buffer zones.

Even if raster data such as B. WMS or GeoTIFF are supported by uDig, the primary focus is on vector-based data sources. The merging of both worlds is currently taking place through JGRASS, the Java-based offshoot of GRASS , as this has been converted to the Eclipse platform and is now available as a plug-in for uDig.
