United States Medical Licensing Examination

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The USMLE ( United States Medical Licensing Examination , also: "Board exam") is a three-part examination in which medical professionals must pass two parts in order to be allowed to work as a doctor in the USA . The first step (Step 1) consists of a written, the second (Step 2) of a written ( clinical knowledge ) and a practical ( clinical skills ) test. The third step (Step 3) must be taken before or during the residency , depending on the state . International doctors can take the written exam in exam centers around the world, although this costs a certain additional fee depending on the location (currently $ 850- $ 1350), whereas the practical exam can only be taken in the USA itself. For foreign doctors, examination approval and coordination took place via the ECFMG ( Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates ).
