Rainer Stephan

Rainer Stephan (born May 16, 1948 in Bonn ) is a German author , journalist and director.

Life

After graduating from high school in Munich in 1967, Stephan studied law and German in Munich and Freiburg from 1967 to 1979. With an investigation into Ludwig Ganghofer's novels, he received his doctorate in German studies for Dr. phil. Stephan, who has been a member of the editorial team of the Süddeutsche Zeitung since 1980 , has written not only his journalistic work but also political-satirical novels. In addition, he works as a director and editor of theater projects. In 2000, together with Viola Milberg, he realized the first complete scenic reading of Karl Kraus ' main dramatic work The Last Days of Mankind .

In 1999 Stephan was one of the first critics of Peter Sloterdijk's rules for the human park , in which he saw an “outrageous interpretation and continuation of Heidegger's letter of humanism”.
