Hermann Unterstöger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hermann Unterstöger (* 1943 in Kirchweidach ) is a German journalist , reporter and columnist .

He has been working as a journalist for the Süddeutsche Zeitung since 1978 . His reports are of particular importance for page 3 and his numerous contributions in the side light . Among other things, he deals with the topics of “domestic politics”, “German language” and “spelling reform”, “Catholic Church” (this is also in the “top management” section of the SZ business section) and “Bavarian culture”.

Awards

  • Ernst Hoferichter Prize 2010 The jury justified the award by saying, “It would hardly be an exaggeration to say that Unterstöger's texts are a form in themselves, something third between journalism and art”. Without having to resort to dialect words, his language is tinged with Bavarian, but never provincial. Unterstöger's trademark is his fine irony, "whether he writes about politicians, about the pitfalls of language, about provincial antics or the Roman curia".
  • Ben Witter Prize 1997
