The USS Commencement Bay , an American escort aircraft carrier and lead ship of the Commencement Bay class , entered service with the identification number CVE-105 as the first ship of a new class on November 27, 1944.

The carrier had no combat use and was used as a training ship for the US Navy , for example for takeoffs and landings. A total of 545 officers and 5,053 crew members were trained on it.

After the war she was assigned to the reserve on November 30, 1946 and remained there until it was decommissioned on May 7, 1959.
