Uedesheimer Strasse 22 to 56

The row house settlement Uedesheimer Straße 22–28, 30–48, 50–56 in the Düsseldorf district of Bilk is considered a “successful ensemble of expressionist and functional brick architecture”, where the “development of Düsseldorf row house architecture in the 1920s” can be seen.

description

The petty-bourgeois and medium-sized property houses on Uedesheimer Strasse were built after the First World War. The older group of buildings from 1926 consists of a building unit with three axes, two-storey on the outside with a dormer in the gable roof or three-storey and set back. The newer one from 1927 shows an eaves gable roof, structured with a series of dwelling houses. The series of gables is unusual for “row houses in Düsseldorf in the 1920s” and was inspired by “North German brick architecture and the garden city of Staaken in Berlin”.
