Uighuristan
As Uiguristan (also: Uighuristan ), four countries or areas of the Uyghur called:
- in the Middle Ages the historical Uyghur Kaganat (745–820) or the remainder of it until the Mongol conquest;
- in the first half of the 20th century two attempts ( 1933–1934 , 1944–1949 ) to found an autonomous or even sovereign republic of East Turkestan with respect to the Republic of China , see also Uyghur (Modern History) ;
- the Uyghur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang, established in 1955 in the northwest of the People's Republic of China.
