The Ukrainian Village is a district to the west of downtown Chicago , which is delimited by Division Street in the north, Grand Avenue in the south, Western Avenue in the west and Damen Avenue in the east. It belongs to the West Town Borough and is under the administration of the 32nd Ward .

The Ukrainian Village had developed into a safe, middle-class residential area over the past few decades . Despite socio-economic changes in the mainly industrial districts bordering to the south and west, the Ukrainian housing estate retained its character, also due to the strong position of the Orthodox churches in the district. Although Chicago's districts are constantly changing and especially the neighboring districts such as Wicker Park or Bucktown have been heavily gentrified in the last ten years , more than 10,000 Ukrainians, Poles and other Eastern European population groups still call the Ukrainian Village their home.

In addition to the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art , the Ukrainian National Museum and the Ukrainian Cultural Center are also represented in the Ukrainian district.

Other sights are the catholic churches Ss. Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian, and the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral and St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral . Also worth seeing is the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Cathedral .
