Ulrich Roloff

Ulrich Roloff (born October 25, 1955 in Berlin ) is a German flautist .

biography

At the age of 16 - as a multiple winner in the Jugend musiziert competition - Ulrich Roloff was accepted into the class of Hans-Peter Schmitz (solo flutist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra ) at the Julius Stern Institute in Berlin and later continued his studies at the former University of Music in Berlin. After studying for several years in London at the Guildhall School of Music with Peter Lloyd (solo flutist London Symphony Orchestra ), he completed his musical training with additional studies with Andreas Blau (solo flutist Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra) in Berlin. He owes a significant musical influence to the collaboration with his father, the pianist Helmut Roloff .

Concert activity

Ulrich Roloff gives concerts as a soloist and ensemble musician at home and abroad. As a duo with piano, harp, cello or guitar, he goes on concert tours throughout Germany, Poland, Switzerland and Russia. He is a guest at music festivals and in concert series (including Musiktage Salzgitter, series Wartburg concerts by DeutschlandRadio , series Potsdamer Hofkonzerte in the New Palace, Öschelbronner Musikfestwoche, concert with the Federal President in Bellevue Palace) and often gave concerts in the Berlin Philharmonie , which were recorded through CD and numerous radio recordings are documented. In addition to his concert activities, he also devotes himself to composing tasks (1995 premiere of a composition for flute solo in the Berlin Philharmonic).

Special features of Ulrich Roloff's flute playing are the basic playing by heart and his extraordinary technique of circular breathing .
