Ultreya

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ultreya is a greeting from Spanish (from Latin "eia ultra" = forward). This encouraging, encouraging word was shouted to each other by pilgrims who were en route to Santiago de Compostela on the Way of St. James and means something like “Forward! Further!"

The Catholic lay movement Cursillo has adopted many elements of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. This also includes Ultreya as a term for meetings of cursillistas , members of the movement, in Christian friendship.
