Umbrella (biology)

As Umbrella (of English. Umbrella ), the bell shape is jellyfish called. The curved surface is called the exumbrella , the concave underside is called the subumbrella . The bell is made up of three acellular and two cellular layers:

  • Epithelium of the exumbrella, consists of highly flattened cells with no contractile fibers
  • Radial canals made up of proteoglycans , glycoproteins , collagen fibrils and lots of water
  • the thinner inner mesogloea.
  • Flattened epithelial cells containing striated myofibrils. They perform the rhythmic swimming movement of the bell.
