Environmental survey

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The environmental survey is a large cross-sectional study of the exposure to pollutants (e.g. heavy metals ) of the general German population. It is intended to provide representative data for health-related environmental monitoring; up to 5000 people were examined and questioned. The survey was carried out by scientists from the Federal Environment Agency , especially from the former Institute for Water, Soil and Air Hygiene (WaBoLu), in collaboration with the Robert Koch Institute . So far there have been three survey rounds: in 1985/86, in 1990/92 and in the years 1997 to 1999. An environmental survey for children (KUS) was started in May 2003; the fieldwork was completed in May 2006.

The data from the surveys have been published in numerous publications.
