Umwelt aktuell is a monthly environmental policy magazine. It was created in 2007 from the previous publication punkt.um (since 1999) by merging with the Deutschland-Rundbrief (since 1983) and the EU-Rundschletter (since 1992) of the Deutscher Naturschutzring . The magazine punkt.um emerged from the circular of the E. F. Schumacher Society for Political Ecology , founded in 1980 .

Umwelt aktuell is the only German-language magazine that has news and reports on German and, above all, European environmental policy as its main content. The readership is made up of environmental politicians, specialist journalists, state environmentalists and those active in environmental organizations .
