Holger Bühner (born August 8, 1966 ) is a former German soccer player. He played both in GDR football and in DFB game operations in the first division, for BSG Motor Suhl and FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in the GDR Oberliga , and for VfB Leipzig in the Bundesliga .

During the 1984/85 season, the 18-year-old Bühner came from the small company sports club (BSG) Aufbau Schmalkalden to the newcomer to the league, BSG Motor Suhl. There he only played seven league games in the second half of the season, first in midfield and later in defense. After Suhl had ended the season as a relegated team, Bühner moved to the upper division FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt. There he was initially nominated for the 1985/86 season for the 2nd team that played in the second-rate GDR league . After a year, Rot-Weiß II was relegated to the district league , where Bühner was active for two more seasons. During this time he completed his training as a mechanical engineer. As a district league player, the 1.84 m tall stage player made seven league appearances during the 1986/87 season. For the 1987/88 season he was officially registered for the league team of FC Rot-Weiß, but was not used regularly in the league until matchday 13. He played alternately as a pre-stopper and right-back. In the 1988/89 season he made his final breakthrough as a regular player when he mainly played pre-stoppers on 21 stakes. In the following two seasons, Bühner only made 15 league appearances due to injury, with his position tending mainly to the left defender. After the end of the 1990/91 season, Bühner was able to look back on 71 GDR league games for FC Rot-Weiß, in which he had scored six goals as a defensive player.

With third place in the last GDR top division season 1990/91, FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt qualified for the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 1991/92 season of the 2nd Bundesliga, Bühner was only used as a defender in the first six league games. He was still part of the Erfurt squad in 1992/93, but was never called up at all. In the first half of the 1993/94 season, Bühner played three times in the 1st Bundesliga for VfB Leipzig. He loaned him to FC Hansa Rostock for the rest of the season, for whom he played 17 games in the 2nd Bundesliga as a libero or right-back. Bühner completed his last professional season in 1994/95 at FSV Zwickau , where he was used in three games in the 2nd Bundesliga in August and September 1994. Then he played for FSV Schmalkalden and SV Arnstadt Rudisleben in the lower leagues. In 2004 he took over the Thuringia division FSV Wacker 03 Gotha as coach.
