The Independent Citizens (UB) are a registered association that is active in local politics in Pforzheim and acting without a party and has been represented in the Pforzheim municipal council by two councilors since 1994 .
history
UB was founded in 1994 on the initiative of members of various Pforzheim citizens' associations. In the local elections in 1994, the list immediately won 5.4% of the vote and thus won two seats. A result that was improved to 5.9% in the 1999 local elections, despite the loss of votes in almost all groups except the CDU.
In the 2004 municipal council elections, the result was increased to 6.2 percent (2 seats). For the first time it was then possible for two non-party lists to merge to form a parliamentary group without the participation of a party. The parliamentary group is called "Free Voters / Independent Citizens' Group" (FW / UB). After a year, the third party-free list (LBBH) represented in the Pforzheim municipal council with a city council also joined the parliamentary group. In the 2009 elections, UB defended its two mandates with 5.6 percent of the vote, with Tobias Krammerbauer being elected to the local council for Bernd Grimmer (now AfD). Krammerbauer resigned from the Independent Citizens in March 2012.
Michael Prange has been a regional councilor in the Northern Black Forest regional association since 2012.
