European floorball championship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Floorball Championship is a floorball tournament that has been held twice so far . It was first played for men in Finland in 1994 . In 1995 the second European championship took place in Switzerland . This time there was a tournament for men and women. In order to give Japan a chance to play at an international tournament, this European championship was advertised as an "open European championship". Then the European Championship was replaced by the Floorball World Championship , which was held for the first time in 1996 for men and in 1997 for the first time for women.

The reintroduction of the European championships is planned for 2023. They should take place annually, ladies in the odd and gentlemen in the even years. Eight teams will take part in the newly planned format: the host and the seven best European teams from the last Floorball World Cup. These eight countries should automatically qualify for the next Floorball World Cup. Among other things, the IFF wants to prevent unattractive games in qualifying, such as the 61: 0 of the Swedish women against the French national team in January 2019.
