United Nations Appeals Tribunal
The United Nations Appeals Tribunal ( Tribunal d'appel des Nations Unies ) is the appellate body of the United Nations service jurisdiction .
founding
The basis of the court is the resolution of the General Assembly 62/228 of December 22, 2007. Thereafter, as a successor to the previously existing United Nations Administrative Court, a two-tier jurisdiction was established on January 1, 2009, consisting of the United Nations Dispute Tribunal and the United Nations Appeals Tribunal.
composition
The court consists of seven judges who are elected by the General Assembly on the recommendation of the United Nations Internal Justice Council . The judges are elected for seven years and cannot be re-elected, with the exception of three judges determined by lot, who are initially in office for three years and can then apply for a single additional seven-year term.
The court decides in panels of three judges.

- Mark P. Painter ( United States ); for three years according to the drawing of lots
- Inés Mónica Vineyard de Roca ( Argentina )
- Jean Courtial ( France ), previously a member of the Conseil d'État ; for three years according to the drawing of lots
- Rose Toodick Boyko ( Canada , previously a judge at the Ontario Superior Court)
- Luis Maria Simón ( Uruguay )
