United Nations Fund for Drug Abuse Control

The UNFDAC ( United Nations Fund for Drug Abuse Control , in German: United Nations Fund to Combat Drug Abuse ) is a special body of the United Nations .

The UNFDAC was founded in 1971 by decision of ECOSOC and the General Assembly . Its task is to develop and provide financial support for comprehensive country programs to combat drug abuse. It tries to reduce the illegal cultivation as well as the trade and consumption of drugs through education programs. In 1989 alone , it supported 152 projects in 49 countries to achieve this goal. These projects are mainly financed through voluntary contributions and donations.
