United States Marine Corps Security Guard

The United States Marine Corps Security Guard (also Marine Embassy Guard , MSG for short ) is one of the four operational forces of the US Marine Corps and ensures the security of the properties of American missions abroad . The unit was set up in 1948.

The MSG works closely with the Diplomatic Security Service , which is the federal agency of the State Department responsible for the global security of citizens, diplomats and buildings in the United States. The MSG soldiers are administratively part of the Marine Corps, but are deployed under civilian command.
