The University of Southwest China ( Chinese  西南 大学 , Pinyin Xīnán Dàxué , English Southwest University , abbr. SWU) is a Chinese university in Chongqing .

It was founded in 2005 through a merger of the Southwest China University of Education and the Southwest China Agricultural University. Since then, it has been one of the universities that have been recognized as part of the university elite support program Project 211 . In 2011–2012 it had around 80,000 students, 30,000 of whom were part-time students, and around 2,600 teachers.

The University of Southwest China is a campus university. The campus is 600 hectares and is located in the Beibei district. The university library has 3.8 million books.
