The University of Education, Winneba (German University for Education in Winneba) (abbreviated: UEW) is a university in Ghana founded in 1992 . The UEW is spread over a campus in Winneba in the Central Region and another campus each in Kumasi and Mampong in the Ashanti Region . In September 2006 a total of 23,262 students were studying at the UEW. Of these, 13,026 were regular students, 8,906 students in the distance learning program and 1,330 part-time students. The proportion of women among all students was 35 percent in September 2006.

Faculties

The UEW is divided into 29 departments and centers, which are spread across six faculties. A total of 12 absentee student learning centers have been set up across Ghana.

The Faculty of Agricultural Education brings together the departments of agricultural engineering, livestock husbandry, interdisciplinary studies, and soil and grain. The Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology consists of the departments of Business Education, Interdisciplinary Studies and Technical Education. The departments for elementary school teaching, early childhood education and psychology and education as well as special education are subordinate to the Faculty of Education. The language faculty combines the departments for the languages ​​Akan-Nzima, English, Ewe, French, Ga-Dangme, Gur-Gonja and applied languages. The Faculty of Natural Sciences is divided into the departments of Health and Sports, Home Economics, Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Ultimately, the Faculty of Social Sciences is located at the university and is divided into the departments of Social Sciences and Social Studies.

The campus has been set up in three different locations. There is also a university radio with Radio Windy Bay and a range of approx. 50 km in Winneba.

In addition, six libraries with the Osagyefo Library, the North Campus Library, Central Campus Library, Special Education Library, The Kumasi Campus Library and the Nana Afua Serwah Kobi Ampem 11 Library (also: Mampong Campus Library) have been opened in the university.
