The Upper Canada College (UCC) is a private school for boys located in the center of Toronto , Canada . Pupils between kindergarten and twelfth grade study as part of the International Baccalaureate program .
Founded in 1829, the UCC is the oldest independent school in the province of Ontario , the third oldest in the country, and is often referred to as the most prestigious school in Canada as the school produces many graduates who enter high and influential positions in business and politics.
The college corresponds to the public school system . Today UCC is completely independent and the students and faculty are different in cultural and economic backgrounds. A connection to the royal family is maintained through Philip, Duke of Edinburgh . He is the school's official visitor .
