Urkers is a Lower Saxon dialect spoken in the municipality of Urk in the north of the province of Flevoland . It forms a transition from the Lower Saxon to the Lower Franconian dialects, which also includes standard Dutch . Therefore, it differs in many ways from North German Lower Saxony or Low German .

The author Gerrit Pasterkamp has written books in Urkers, including translations of psalms and fiction .
