Ursula Schulte (born August 9, 1952 in Alstätte ) is a German elected member of the German Bundestag ( SPD ). In the 2013 Bundestag election , she entered the Bundestag for the first time via the NRW state list . She is a member of the Committee on Food and Agriculture and the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women, and Youth.

Life

After attending school, Ursula Schulte worked in retail and then as a housewife. In addition to bringing up children and caring for their parents, Ursula Schulte volunteered in local politics.

Ursula Schulte joined the SPD in 1980 and was a member of the Vreden City Council from 1984 to 2004. From 1989 to 2014 she was a member of the Borken district council. From 2004 to October 2013 she led the SPD parliamentary group in the Borken district council as chairwoman. Ursula Schulte has been a member of the regional board of the SPD Western Westphalia since 2012. In 2013 it moved into the German Bundestag via the NRW state list. There she is a member of the Committee on Food and Agriculture and the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women, and Youth.

Positions

When she moved into the Bundestag, she coined the phrase that the worlds of the "common people" also belong in parliaments. "Parliament is supposed to reflect the population. Our living environment belongs in there, not just that of lawyers or people from the public service."

Ursula Schulte demands that family farms have to generate enough income with their work in order to be able to live on it. "It can't be that, for example, a liter of milk costs less than a liter of cola." She advocates growing regional added value: "Away from mass-produced goods, towards more quality".

Schulte welcomes the decision of the Bundestag to open marriage to same-sex couples: “A marriage is based on the promise of two people to stand up for one another. [...] As a Catholic, I am firmly convinced that God loves all people unconditionally. All people are equal before God. Against this background, too, marriage is the right decision for everyone ”.

Ursula Schulte is a member of the Catholic women's community, the Arbeiterwohlfahrt, a founding member of the District Refugee Council in Borken, a member of the Heimatverein Vreden-Lünten and a member of the sports club FC Vreden 52 eV
