Uruguay Canyon

The Uruguay Canyon is a deep-sea trench in the middle of the Antarctic Weddell Sea .
It is named in an international vote. The South American state of Uruguay for its scientific activities in the Antarctic or the corvette Uruguay , rescue ship of the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1904), are possible namesake .
